Bio

Twenty-six years building data platforms and engineering teams at enterprise scale. I architect the infrastructure that powers ML systems—graph databases, real-time event pipelines, feature stores, and analytics platforms that turn raw data into decisions.

What I Build

My work sits at the intersection of data engineering and full-stack development. I've designed graph architectures modeling 500M+ nodes and 1.5B+ relationships, built real-time event processing systems handling millions of daily events, and created analytics platforms that give data science and business teams the foundations they need to do meaningful work.

I care about the unglamorous infrastructure that makes everything else possible: clean data pipelines, reliable APIs, sensible data models, and systems that scale without drama.

Where I've Been

Most recently, I spent eight years as Director of Engineering at FulcrumSaaS, building their Customer Data Platform from the ground up—Neo4j graph databases, BigQuery warehousing, real-time personalization infrastructure, and SOC2-compliant data governance.

Before that: engineering leadership at ForSaleByOwner.com during the Tribune Media years, a platform rebuild that led to acquisition at Investability/RentRange, and building Auction.com's real-time bidding platform with a 50+ person team handling thousands of concurrent auctions.

I started in the late '90s at a digital agency called CyberSight, working on sites like StarWars.com, Visa.com, and Nissan.com. The web was different then, but the fundamentals haven't changed: understand the problem, build something that works, make it fast, keep it simple.

Current Focus

I'm deep into GenAI integration, LLM orchestration, and agentic development workflows. This site is built with Claude Code as a collaborative tool—not just code generation, but actual pair programming with an AI that understands context and can reason about architecture decisions.

I'm convinced this is how software gets built going forward, and I want to be fluent in it.
